Macgregor

Veterinary medicine is the only profession that Macgregor ever wanted to pursue. From a very early age he was drawn to and fascinated by both wild and domesticated animals; this connection started with his childhood companion, an Airedale Terrier named Crockett. In the early years Macgregor satisfied his desire to observe and care for creatures of all shapes and sizes any way that he could - from his pet fish, lizards and small mammals to catching and later releasing wild snakes, frogs and even snapping turtles. It didn’t take more than a couple of these critters discovered loose in the family cottage before his own pet, Carter the rabbit, arrived!

In 2001 at the age of 18, Macgregor moved to Edinburgh Scotland to pursue his lifelong dream. After graduating from the Royal (Dick) College of Veterinary Studies he accepted his first full time position at ‘The Veterinary Centre’ located in Henley-on-Thames, England. This is a wonderful private hospital that performs a wide range of medical, surgical, emergency and wild life care. It was not only an incredible place to begin his career, it was also here where Macgregor was lucky enough to meet Tanja! Now, with the help of their baby girl Samantha the two of them are finally opening their own practice together. Having grown up just down the street and after spending the last 4 years working close by, Mac is thrilled to do so in an area where he feels a strong personal and professional connection. He believes in not only providing top quality care for his patients but building long-lasting relationships with his colleagues and clients alike.

ADAM

Dr. Adam Kleinberg joined the team at Spinks Vet Clinic in the Spring of 2019. From a very young age, Adam had a unique passion for being around animals of all shapes and sizes. Growing up, he spent many summers training at busy veterinary hospitals in the city and volunteering at the Zoo.

Adam graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in Guelph, ON, after completing his Bachelor of Science in Animal Biology at Western University and Master of Science in Nutrition & Physiology at The University of Guelph.

Throughout his career, Adam has pursued many opportunities to expand his clinical experience abroad. In 2014, Adam travelled to South East Asia with Global Vets to volunteer and give back to local communities in need. His team spent three months providing primary care at a small animal rescue on the island of Koh Samui, rehabilitating wildlife at the Laos Zoo and caring for wounded Asian elephants at the Elephant Nature Park in the Northern Thai rainforest. During his veterinary training, Adam completed a surgery externship at Humane Alliance, a state of the art spay/neuter training facility in Asheville, NC that ultimately sparked his love for surgery. In 2018, he completed his Level I Dental Surgery certificate at the respected Veterinary Dental Training Centre in San Diego, CA.

Adam’s professional interests lie in geriatric medicine, clinical nutrition, dentistry, soft tissue surgery, and anesthesia. He is an established photographer, foodie, tech enthusiast, and an avid golfer. When he is not in the clinic, Adam loves traveling and spending time up at the cottage with his lovely wife Jackie, their two daughters Noa & Mae, and Mini Bernedoodle Wally! Adam’s love for practice is rooted in nurturing long term relationships with pet owners and their animals from their first steps on all fours, all the way into their senior years.

Delaney

Dr. Delaney Miller joined the Spinks Vet team in January 2021. After completing her undergraduate degree in Animal Biology at the University of Guelph, Delaney moved to Edinburgh, Scotland to attend the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies. She graduated in 2020 and began her career at a small animal practice in Richmond Hill. She has known Mac and Tanja for many years, and worked with them prior to the opening of Spinks Veterinary Clinic.

Delaney is passionate about animal welfare and behavior, and has a strong interest in feline medicine. Though she loves all patients, she has a particular fondness for senior kitties. During Delaney’s time in vet school, she was involved in community outreach through her work with All4Paws, a student-run clinic that provides veterinary care to the pets of people that are vulnerably housed. Delaney chose to become a veterinarian because of her love of animals and the human-animal bond. Her favorite part of the job is forming meaningful relationships with her clients and their pets. It is important to her to work with clients to make every visit to the clinic the most positive experience possible for each patient.

Outside of work, Delaney’s hobbies include travelling, trivia nights, trying to keep her expanding collection of plants alive, exploring new places with her three Samoyeds, and spending a quiet night in reading with her two rescue cats, Navi and Lucy.

Stewart

Dr. Stewart Higginbotham has had a love for animals tracing back to childhood, originating with his childhood dog, a poodle named Ginger. He always knew he wanted to become a veterinarian, and spent much of his early life volunteering and gaining veterinary experience to make this possible. He enrolled at the University of Guelph in a Biomedical Science degree, before attending the Ontario Veterinary College.

Following graduation in 2019, Stewart moved to Prince Edward Island, where he and his wife Meg, also a veterinarian, worked for 5 years, and adopted their two dogs - Goose, a Golden Retriever,  and Matilda, a three legged Chihuahua mix. In 2024, they moved back to Stewart’s hometown of Toronto.

Stewart is very excited to be joining the Spinks team! His favourite aspects of veterinary practice include preventative medicine, soft tissue surgery, pain management, and dermatology. He can’t wait to get to know you and your pets!

Outside of work, Stewart is an avid outdoorsman, spending time canoeing, camping, and hiking. He is also a passionate tennis player and skier.

Jen

Dr. Jen Hodges grew up surrounded by family pets, inspiring her to become a veterinarian. She attended the university of Guelph to obtain her Bachelor of Science degree, then graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2006. She has been practicing small animal medicine in Toronto ever since, focusing on preventive care, nutrition and internal medicine.
Jen is also an artist and enjoys abstract painting. She loves spending time outdoors at the cottage with her family including two crazy boxer dogs.

Tanja

From as early as she can remember, spending time with and caring for animals has been Tanja’s biggest passion. Despite being a fully qualified Paramedic, Tanja couldn’t help but refocus her professional path and join the veterinary field. In part, this desire was cemented due to the constant care required for her first pet, a border collie named Kimbo, who sadly suffered from severe epilepsy.

In 2004 Tanja graduated college near her hometown of Harsewinkel Germany and in 2008 she moved to England where she had her qualifications converted to become a Registered Veterinary Nurse in the UK. She is still an active member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. Upon arriving in her new country, Tanja flipped through a phone book where she randomly found a listing for the Veterinary Centre: a full service, privately owned 24-hour veterinary hospital located in Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire. This led to her to applying for and later accepting a job where she met Macgregor. Quickly they became close friends and, needless to say, the rest is history!

When she is not working, Tanja loves to spend time outdoors; learning to fish or golf, enjoying long walks with her dogs Merle and Blanka or just relaxing in the shade with her baby girl Samantha. Tanja is also well travelled and although she has visited many beautiful places all over the world, she has not yet found the cure for the travel bug that has stricken her!

In 2012 Tanja joined Mac, who had moved a couple of months before, in his home town of Toronto. They have always dreamed of operating a clinic together and share the same views as to how the practice of veterinary medicine and the delivery of their services should be undertaken. After 4 more years of working side by side, Macgregor and Tanja are finally realizing their dream to open Spinks Veterinary Clinic together.
